The Dancing Sandhill Cranes !!

These beautiful birds have long been admired for the awesome dancing skills during their courting rituals.  It is so beautiful and a real privilege to witness.  Thus begins the mating time and the birth of new chicks.

These incredible birds mate for life and have one brood a year of one to three eggs.

The Sandhill Crane is an important part of the Florida ecosystem and is very much respected.  They stand approximately four feet tall and weigh close to eight to ten pounds.

Often they are found in open fields and pastures, since they like to feed mainly on insects and small animals.

They are extremely social creatures and are usually found in pairs or as a family unit.  The parents remain together for life and are together even in the non-breeding season.
